Hi Anthony,
I am writing you from my new apartment in Aurora, CO,
and I am still headed down my counseling path!
In fact I am volunteering at The Children's Hospital in
Denver as a patient rep., and a patient activity person.
The first position involves being a liaison between the doctor
and family when problems arise and also involves a bit of
little mentoring to the parents. Apparently it is a big
deal volunteer position, so I am honored they picked me.
The other position involves playing with the kids.
I hope volunteering might turn into more,
the director of volunteers has already talked to me
about applying for a full time mentoring position
(no LPC required) when one becomes available. So that's great!
Thanks so much for all your great guidance with the program.
It's wonderful to have a very specific response when people
ask me what I want to be when I grow up.
Hope to hear from you sometime.

Update: Feb 20, 2004
More good news. I went to an information session about the
counseling program at UCD and it sounds prefect.
Also, it's competitive to get in (which I think is good)
but from looking over the application I know I'll make the cut.
And I don't have to take the GRE which was mentally holding me back.
I can take a test called the Miller which sounds more on par
with my past education. Anyway, it's a 3 year program
and I will start in the Spring of 2005.
Update: July 2004
Just writing to let you know that I just got a part-time
job at The University of Denver as a Program Services Specialist.
What does that mean? Its kind of like a patient
representative for students. I working at The Women's
College with a group of really incredible women,
and I spend 70% of my day taking with people one-on-one
and problem solving, so I think it is a great fit.
Also I am about to start volunteering at the local
community college in the student advising department.
So I am feeling very on track.
