Assistant TV Producer to Travel Writer

August 2000

Dear Anthony,

Thank you for the interpretation session...although, saying thank you does not even begin to express the enthusiasm I feel about your excellent guidance. I feel as though I have been lost and found again!

I've been meaning to write to you for ages, because you sent me such a great reply to my new year greetings. I actually printed it out and put it up on my fridge! Your support and enthusiasm is a great help to me!

Anyway...maybe you remember we talked about a career as a travel writer/photographer? I did some press shots for the TV station I work for and took two entrance examinations for the photo journalism line at the Danish School of Journalism this spring. I was rejected...my scores were 0.4 points shy! Two days after the test I left on vacation to New York and the Caribbean, and when I got home, I decided to try to write a travel article. I did and sent it in with photos, I had taken with a small pocket camera. Well, last Saturday, only a few days after I sent it in, my article was published in one of the 3 leading national newspapers in Denmark, it's sort of an equivalent to The New York Times. They referred with a photo to my article on the front page, my photograph ( of my feet in a Caribbean hammock!!! ) had the entire front page of the weekly travel section, and my article and 3 other photos had two whole pages inside the travel section. So I'm a pretty happy girl these days!!! Especially since the editor told me, that they get 45-50 articles sent in from people every week.

I've started to write the article in English, and I am thinking of trying to sell it in the US, although it may be a long shot. I'm sure the competition is tougher there, but it's worth a try. ( That seems a little premature to me...I'm still reading the manual for my new camera!!! ).

Well, I just wanted to tell you the good news, thanks to your support!

Warm regards,

Anne-Marie
